Course Description

OFFICE TECHNOLOGY (OT)    - Credits:  15 units

This course has been designed so that the graduates will learn the job functions that are common to most offices and how specific skills are applied to accomplish tasks and procedures in the modern high technology office environments.

CAREERS:   Customer service staff, secretary, receptionist, word processor and data entry operators are some of the careers available to the graduates.


ACCOUNTING SUPPORT (ACC)    - Credits:  15 units

This course has been designed so that the graduates will be able to best utilize the computer to perform the various tasks expected of Jr. bookkeepers and accountants.  Accounting is one of the business functions that have been completely changed by the “ computer revolution “. Speed, accuracy and memory, the trademarks of the computer are the cornerstones of an efficient accounting system so the two are extremely well matched.

CAREERS:   The careers available to the student are Data Entry Clerk, Order Entry Clerk, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accounts Receivable Clerk, Jr. Bookkeeper, Jr. Accountant, Customer Service Representative and Various levels of Secretarial positions.

COMPUTER TECHNICIAN (CT)    - Credits:  15 units

This program provides training for the students to troubleshoot, repair and upgrade personal computers.  The students will also learn the networking essentials and concepts to be able to work with workstations, user setup and troubleshooting network systems

CAREERS: Computer technician, computer repair specialist, computer assembler, network technician, electronic technician, network coordinator and tech-support specialist

AIR-CONDITIONING AND ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN (AE) - Credits:  15 units

The Air-Conditioning and Electrical program prepare graduates for a wide variety of occupations in the 150 billion dollar mechanical environment science field. Graduates find employment with heating and air conditioning contractors, residential mechanical contractors, parts and equipment distributors.

CAREERS:  HVAC Technicians, Air-Conditioning and Heating Repairman are some of the careers available to the graduates.


MEDICAL OFFICE (MO)    - Credits:  15 units

The medical field has a tremendous amount of information, from patient data to insurance billing requirements, that need to be processed and what better processor than the computer.

CAREERS:  Medical Office Secretary, Medical Receptionist, Medical Support Staff.


PHLEBOTOMY (PH)    - Credits:  15 units

People working in a phlebotomist career work directly with their patients in tasks such as taking blood and other samples from their patients or blood donors for medical testing and then helping to prepare and process the tests. They work in a laboratory to test the specimens for diseases or other abnormalities.

CAREERS:  Phlebotomist, Medical Support Staff.


ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)    - Credits: 
20 units

This course has been designed to teach the students the basic, intermediate and advanced English language usage through the various mediums and tools from classroom lectures, DVD's,  CD-ROMS, Textbooks and workbooks in order to teach the students the proper use of the English Language.  The students will learn the basic to advanced skills dealing with proper Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing techniques as well as using the proper English language as it is used in a modern computerized office environment.

CAREERS:  Hospitality staff, Customer service staff, Translator, Office assistant and Tour guide staff.

The students should be able to perform different technical tasks, to solve problems, and to work cooperatively with others in a team environment.  This program will prepare the students to take the A+ certification exams.

TRAVEL, TOURISM and HOSPITALITY (TTH)– Credits: 
33 units

This program is designed to provide the student with comprehensive knowledge of the travel industry while developing entry-level skills for employment in the airline, travel agency, and hospitality sectors. Graduates will be prepared to work in a variety of entry to intermediate level positions in the travel, hotel and catering industry.

CAREERS:  Graduates will be prepared to work in a variety of entry to intermediate level positions in the travel, hotel and catering industry or as ticket agents with commercial airlines and/or travel agencies.


BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND ACCOUNTING (BAA) - Credits: 33 units

BIOTECHNOLOGY TECHNICIAN (BIO) - Credits:  33 units

The Biotechnology Science program graduates perform experiments and assays, manufacture products and assist with research using a variety of technical skills. The student will become familiar with the theory and hands-on experience for testing procedures, product manufacturing, material processing, monitoring and record keeping Clinical Trails, equipment maintenance, inventory control, inspection techniques and use of standards for quality assurance, collection and evaluation of data, and assisting with research.

CAREERS:  The students can obtain an entry-level position as Biotechnology Technician, Equipment testers or Material processing tech.


AIR-CONDITIONING, ELECTRICAL, HEATING AND COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION (HVA) -Credits: 33 units

The Air-Conditioning, Electrical, Heating and Commercial Refrigeration program prepare graduates for a wide variety of occupations in the 150 billion dollar mechanical environment science field. Graduates find employment with large commercial heating and air conditioning contractors, residential mechanical contractors, parts and equipment distributors, large commercial and industrial facility maintenance departments.

CAREERS:  HVAC Technicians, Air-Conditioning and Heating Repairman and Refrigeration Technicians are some of the careers available to the graduates.


COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEM (CIS) - Credits:  33 units

This program provides training for the students to perform advanced troubleshooting, repair and upgrading personal computers.  The students will also learn advanced networking essentials and concepts, advanced windows and different operating systems to setup multi network systems, organize diagnose and setup computer network stations, fileservers, TCP/IP protocol, advanced user and printer setup and trouble shooting as well as network security systems. The students should be able to perform many different technical tasks, to solve problems, and to work cooperatively with others in a team environment. This program will prepare the students to take the A+ certification and MCSE certification exams.

CAREERS: Network technician specialist, computer technician specialist, computer repair specialist, computer bench tech, electronic technician, network coordinator and tech-support specialist


MEDICAL ASSISTING / LAB (MED) - Credits:  33 units

The medical Lab Assistant program with computers offers the graduates the opportunity to obtain jobs in a medical environment as a medical assistant in the front and the back Lab office.  The graduates will have the ability to perform front office skills such as, setting up appointments, patients billing, insurance coding, medical transcribing, charting patients health complaints, history and vital signs.  The Medical Assistant with computers graduates will also be able to assist doctors in laboratory and urinalysis, hematology, pharmacology, emergency and health science procedure.

CAREERS: Medical lab assistant, Medical administrative assistant, medical office assistant, medical receptionist, medical office manager, back office assistant and pharmacy customer service support.
